My brother and I are second generation racers in our family. It started
with our father, Cal Rawlings who raced with Basil Westfall at the now closed
Windsor Speedway. They raced a 1932 Ford coupe on this 1/3 mile dirt track
with great sucess. We would go along with them learning and helping anyway
we could, not only at the track but in the garage also. From that point on
we have always been somehow involved with racing locally.
We decided to start racing back in 1987 with the Street Stock division at
Windsor Speedway. This was our stepping stone into the sport, we continued
in this division for 5 years. For the 1992 season at Windsor Speedway a new
division was introduced it was the Open Wheel Modified based on the popular
I.M.C.A. division from the United States. We decided to take on the
challenge of a new division and style of race car. The division only
endured the one season because during the winter of 1992 the track offically
closed.
We were left with a few options at that point but the best choice was that a
race track an hour and half away from us was looking for a new division to
add to their program. That track was Delaware Speedway Park located
south of London, Ontario our home track for the past 5 years. We have been
fortunate enough to have won track championships in 1993 and 1995 also to
finished each other season within the top ten in final points.
Hopefully this gives you a little bit of background about us. Thanks again
for visiting our web site.
